WAIUKU KING STREET ROADWORKS - Change of Route for Awhitu residents (see below)

WAIUKU - KING STREET ROAD WORKS

You will be pleased to know that works will finally take place next month to repair the road surface on King St.

Work site is between Meachen Terrace and Constable Road Roundabout.

Scheduled start date is Monday 27th May 2024
Hours and duration of work: 7am, 27th May to 5am, 31st May (four days and four nights)
Contingency Date is Monday 3rd June 2024
In order for this to be completed there will be a One Way road closure in operation. If you are travelling north towards Awhitu, you will be able to stay on King Street.
If you are travelling south from Awhitu towards town, you will need to take the diversion along Taurangaruru Road and turn left into Park Road, along Harvey Road and then turn left into Constable Road. See map below.

By keeping the traffic northbound along King Street, it avoids a diversion where you have traffic turning right out of Park Road into Taurangaruru Road which can be a tricky intersection to exit due to limited visibility.

While both the partial road closure, diversion and length of time it will take to repair is less than ideal, this is the best solution we have to finally get this stretch of road repaired once and for all.
