| Friday 5th March 2010 Dear Parents A NEW ARRIVAL A big welcome to Abigail Hurley (4.4 pounds) who arrived a little early for her parents. Of course this meant that Megan had to finish her teaching career with us a bit ahead of schedule and is now on long term leave to look after their little one. We will certainly miss Megan and the great contribution she has made to our staff and school as whole. Hopefully when she decides to resume teaching she picks us first. ROOM 2 TEACHER The Board of Trustees has advertised for a teacher for our Year 7/8 class in Room 2, to take over from the start of Term 2. We thank Maxine Bremner for filling in the position for the first term and look forward to her working in other important roles in our school until the end of Term 3. ELECTIONS This year we have the triennial elections for the five (5) parent representatives on the school Board of Trustees. The election date is the 7th of May but before then we need all of you to consider either standing yourself or nominating someone else for election and carrying on the excellent role that the past Awhitu District School boards have done. Mrs Suzy Kirkaldy is our school?s Returning Officer and shortly she will be sending home nomination forms for each of our parents/caregivers to put forward the names of people that they think would be keen in helping to govern our school. So let?s start thinking ?BOT Elections 2010?. CARETAKER Another welcome back is to Mr Wigley who is feeling much better now and back at work taking care of our school. Thanks to Tinker Brown for all the great work he has done around the school in Pete?s absence. If for some reason you do not want your child to participate in this service, please contact Eric at school and he will make alternative arrangements for these students. SMOKEFREE POLICY Each year the BOT is required to review its Smokefree policy. This year we have added a section reminding parents to refrain from smoking in their vehicles when transporting children on school outings.
