Calf Club
We are fortunate that we still have enough dairy farms around our school district to enable us to have a Calf Club day.
The day, however, is not only for calves, but each October we have competitions for lambs, kids, chickens and indoor pets.
It is always a very popular day in our Awhitu community with lots of visitors - not just school parents.
We also have raffles, a cafe and other fund-raising activities during the day.
But, the stars are always the children and their pets and the competition for Grand Champion in all animal categories is very strong.
All children can enter into the Waiuku Group Day championships regardless of how they do at our school event and to win this highly-rated competition (as we have done on several occasions) means a great deal to our community.
